Hello.  I'm Mr. MacLeod and I'm a math teacher in Liberty Ranch High School. I wanted to give you just a little bit of information about the class that your child is in and information on what's going to be doing and how you can check up on them and how they can get help.   So on the screen right now is information on how to contact me.  Email probably the best.  The phone number (I may or may not be here teaching class, so). Phone tag isn't fun.  Email is pretty consistant.  So here we go. Office hours.  I have office hours every Monday from 8 to 10. Occasionally they will throw in a meeting in there unless it gets canceled.   But usually 8 to 10 every Monday morning... and then Tuesdays through Fridays, from 1:30 to 2 o'clock. Often I stay on the zoom meetings much longer than 2 o'clock. If there's questions, this is how students can get help. There's also a District sponsored tutoring.  It runs Monday through Thursday It's from 3 to 4 o'clock.  There are several teachers and several student tutors when students login to a Zoom link that's in their Advisory module or class module also. They can... They will be put into different rooms on Zoom where they may be grouped together with other students in the same subject matter with a tutor helping them there.  So that's another option and that runs Monday through Thursday. So let me talk about my 1st period. If your student is not in my 1st Period, I'll get to your class in just a moment.   AP Study Hall.  This is a great opportunity for students to get ther work done for other classes. And it's also an excellent opportunity for tutoring from me.  Many of my students, actually most of my students in this class either have me currently or had me last semester, so we'll be doing a lots of review for the AP Stats test.   And then for Calculus we're going to be be asing questions, current questions too, so it's a great opportunity for students just to get work done but also to get some help. AP Study Hall will be grated on three equal components. One will be attendance... do they show up every day. Activity Logs... they have to fill out an activity log saying what they're doing that day and how long they are spending on it.  And also Homework Accountability. I'll be looking at their classes and seeing if they are getting their homework done for other classes. If they are not getting their homework done for their other classes, they are not doing what they are supposed to be using their time for. For 2nd period is AP Statistics. It's an awesome class that teachers problem solving, writing and reading skills, application to all fields of study, so it's great, I think it's one of the most important classes that students take. There are three components to this course. Classwork is worth 10%, so daily note-taking. Homework is worth 20%, and then Assessment, which are tests. Every two weeks they come often, because we're going so fast it's crazy. One quick note.   Also on Statistics is that the AP test is coming up in May but it may be changing a little bit... The time is supposed to be May but it may have gotten back by two weeks, which is great.  Hopefully so.  So more information about that.   Third period is AP Calculus BC.  These are all the same students I had last semester, so this shouldn't be any suprise to you that you're seeing me. It will build upon what we learned last semester, so they continue to get lots of practice, going to be similar to what we were doing      a lot of the homework is based upon  review.  Students should take the AP test in May. We'll be studying for it this month and we will be doing considerable review for the AP test, exclusively at least two weeks before, but we will actually be doing a preliminary review. AP Calculus has three components of the course. Classwork is 10%, which is daily note taking. Homework, which is 20%, which is getting homework done, daily practice... and Assessment. We're going to test after each chapter, probably about three or four in each term, at least the first term. My 4th period class is Integrated Math III. This class builds upon what was learned in Math I and Math II. Students with deficiencies in the prerequisite courses will need to put an extra effort into this class. This is actually a problem because we've been on Distance Learning for a while now, so we do have some students who kind of cut some corners, or maybe just the class didn't cover some things... so they are going to have to put in some extra time.  I expect to see them asking lots of questions in class and putting extra time on homework.  This class is a required course for students going to a 4-year college and the class prepares students to either take Pre-Calculus and/or AP Statistics next year... Three components for this course.   Classwork is worth 30%.  There's daily note-taking and little mini quizzes every once in a while on those.   Homework 30%, doing it every day.   And Assessment 40%. There's some quizzes on Mondays and tests after each chapter. That's it.   If you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
